If you are a regular reader, you will know I am a massive fan of all kinds of shoe types (I own more pairs than I can count!). So, after first seeing the Paul Brunngard kit, I knew it would totally transform my shoe-care routine. So, let’s find out more in the following review.
Style & Design
The visual style of the Paul Brunngard kit is absolutely fantastic—the shine of the solid walnut briefcase will catch your eye instantly (it features a handy leather handle for easy carry). Once you flip down the side locks, you can open the lid to expose multiple slots for the range of different pots and brushes. A handy tray also folds out to the left, revealing even more space for the vast amount of items included with the set.
The pots are minimalistic and sleek by design – transparent (to view the contents) with a black lid and a simple label displaying the name and colour.
The brushes are crafted out of solid wood—horsehair, goat hair, and applicator style (all very high-quality and complementary to the overall design of the set). Finally, there is the sole edge iron, which also matches the polished style shown throughout.

Usage
Thanks to the many items included in the set, knowing where to begin can initially be overwhelming!
Start by using the horsehair brush to clean any excess dirt and debris off your shoes or boots, rubbing vigorously along any problem areas (such as around the heel and sides, where dirt typically builds up)
Secondly, grab yourself one of the pots of sublime wax (choose one that matches the colour of the leather on your chosen shoe/boot). This product will provide natural protection against moisture and dirt, adding nourishment to the leather with a fine patina and high-gloss finish. Rub the bristles of the applicator brush against the wax inside the pot, then brush firmly into the leather.
Next, select the artistic cream (again, making sure it matches the leather) to restore scratches and defects and even re-add pigment and colour to the leather. Finally, it will nourish and moisturise the shoe, leaving it with a stunning shine! Dip a clean cloth into the cream and apply directly to the leather, using a circular motion as you move across the shoe.
Finally, complete the procedure with the spitshine, which allows you to build several layers of gloss while delivering a fantastic polished effect. Use the applicator device to apply it to your shoes, then take the soft goat hair brush and lightly scrub across the surface of the leather.
Packaging
As you can imagine, the packaging is sublime. The wooden briefcase arrives in a soft-touch black box (with just the Paul Brunngard name etched across the top). After sliding the lid off, you are greeted with the solid walnut briefcase (which is also surrounded by a plastic sleeve to protect it during travel). Each additional item – the brushes, creams, waxes and spitshine is individually packaged inside its own black box, keeping everything pleasingly uniform.
Overall, the packaging is excellent, displaying a quality that easily matches the contents.
Value For Money
The price point is certainly in the premium bracket (RRP of £250 just for the briefcase or £590 for the entire kit). However, it is a worthy expenditure! (After all, many designer shoes boast a very high price point, and you will want to ensure they have a long life.)
