Donahugh Sunglasses Review

Men’s sunglasses are an essential accessory during the summer season – they protect your eyes from the sun, while also elevating your outfit choices (I am rarely seen without a pair of stylish shades!). In my latest blog post review, I will take a look at a couple of pairs from the newest collection from premium brand Donahugh. Carry on reading to discover more!

The Donahugh brand has an interesting origin story – starting life when the founder was wandering through the bustling streets of Tokyo, encountering an optical store, in which the veteran craftsman was using his expertise (and vintage tool kit) to create stunning eyewear.

This experience served as the inspiration to kickstart the brand, utilising this knowledge to design and build their collection of sunglasses for the menswear market, with nods to art, sunshine, travel, and the iconic 80s.

In my following review, I will be examining two items from the brand’s latest collection. Continue reading to find out more.

Style & Design

The Donahugh Eyewear collection boasts an impressive array of sunglasses for the fashionable gent (with some truly eye-catching pieces!).

Donahugh Walter Sunglasses

First up, we have the fantastic-looking ‘Walter’ model, which is available in an impressive eight colour-ways. I chose the clear and blue model – consisting of a transparent frame with contrasting blue lenses. The frame features a chunky style design (which is undeniably retro), while also incorporating gold hardware within each arm and for the bridge (where the glasses sit on the nose).

Donahugh Brian Sunglasses

Next, we have the ‘Brian’ model, which is the polar opposite of the previous style. This design is available in 7 colour-ways, and I picked out the grey & orange option. The frame is intricately designed with a grey base with a gold and blue pattern. The lenses feature a bold orange hue that complements the frame perfectly.

Construction

Each pair of sunglasses boasts an exceptional level of quality! The frames are solid and sturdy, manufactured using plant-based acetate, whereas the lenses are constructed from HD nylon.

They sit firmly on your face (without appearing too tight) and open and close smoothly. Special mention must go to the lenses, when worn, they make the world appear much clearer (especially the Brian), which was a huge surprise!

Overall, I was hugely impressed with the construction work for both pairs of sunglasses – so far, I am more than impressed!

Packaging

Each pair of shades arrives in its own sturdy black box (with the silver logo emblazoned across the top), and removing the lid reveals a sunglasses case (with popper closure). Ideal for travel, and can be easily slipped into your backpack or hold-all.

Additionally, a blue microfibre cloth is included in each box, allowing you to wipe away any unsightly fingerprints from the lenses before wear.

Value For Money

Many designer brands (who shall remain nameless) typically offer their range of sunglasses at an exorbitant price point! (With many pushing beyond £250!). Fortunately, Donahugh aims to combat this attack on your wallet by retailing their quality shades at a much more affordable RRP, sitting between £60 and £80 (even less during their sales).

This low price, combined with the quality provided, makes these sunglasses a highly recommended choice.

Final Thoughts

If you are in the market for a new stylish pair of shades (especially with a retro vibe), then Donahugh has your back! They deliver good looks, quality, excellent packaging and all at a bargain price point! What are you waiting for? Grab yourself a pair today!
