Top Accessories For Guys When Attending A Wedding

For men, a wedding invitation (whether it’s for a friend, family member, or colleague) is a chance to dress up and showcase your formal wear style. However, by incorporating a few select accessories, you can elevate your ensemble even further. Carry on reading for more.

Weddings can be held throughout the year, enjoying different types of weather (such as hot days in the sun, dull overcast skies or even rain and snowfall) – as such, you must choose your outfit (and accessories) carefully.

The same applies to the type of building where the ceremony and after-party are held. It is highly likely the groom and (most certainly) the bride searched through a large number of different venue listings before landing on a spot that ticks all of their essential wedding boxes. Therefore, you need to coordinate your outfit and extras to match their chosen location and decor.

Tie & Pocket Square

If you are attending a wedding, you will likely be wearing a suit (two- or three-piece) in a classic colour such as charcoal, navy, or beige (if it’s a summer event). However, the challenge begins when you need to choose your tie and pocket square.

Select something that complements both your jacket, waistcoat, and trousers, as well as the wedding venue and colour scheme of the event. As a general rule, pastel colours will always work well and display a bright and fresh appearance. Remember to ensure that both the tie and square complement each other (although try and avoid an exact match) with splashes of colour or patterns.

Jewellery

For a wedding, aim to keep your jewellery minimal yet sleek – opt for rings (in silver, platinum, or gold) that are plain or feature a touch of colour (using high-quality gems and stones). Bracelets and cuffs can work but will typically be unseen thanks to your suit jacket sleeve (although if the party kicks off later and you shed your blazer and roll your shirt sleeves, then your wrist candy will have time to shine!).

Watch

Avoid anything overly bold or garish for your chosen timepiece. You can’t go wrong with a classic style with a leather strap and an understated face design. Alternatively, opt for a sports Swiss watch (such as an Omega, Rolex, Tag or Tudor).

Chronographs are undoubtedly stylish yet busy, but they can work as long as they feature a minimalistic colour palette.

Belt

A belt is ultimately an optional item for your wedding event ensemble. Nevertheless, the correct style will bring your entire outfit together. Slip on a classic black or brown leather design (make sure it matches your footwear), and you will be good to go.

Remember to avoid an over-the-top buckle (even if it’s designer!) and instead opt for a standard closure, which is subtle yet highly effective.

By following the tips in my latest guide, you will be able to head to that wedding event fully styled in top-tier accessories that will look the part without drawing attention from the stars of the show (namely the bride and groom!).
