As a self-proclaimed beard-owner, I’m always looking for a new shaver that will allow me to keep my facial hair in check, with accessories to ensure each strand of hair is the correct length (long battery life is a must, too!). After checking out the range from Brio, I just had to give their Beardscape model a try as it includes a large variety of gadgets that could help in my grooming regime. In the following review, I will provide my opinion on this new tool to see if it works as well as it looks.
Style & Design
For tech items, looks are undoubtedly less important than functionality. However, design can certainly be a game-changer, and the Brio Beardscape V2 Trimmer ticks off those style boxes, too. It is sleek in all black and features a large digital display showcasing all of the different selections. The buttons are laid out clearly, with a large circular button in the centre for ON/OFF that is easy to click.
The shaver also comes with a stylish charging dock system that will look the part sitting in your bedroom or bathroom.
Functionality
The Brio Beard Trimmer features a wide variety of functions and options ideal for that super shave you are looking for. The blade has been constructed from a tough ceramic that will last many years of heavy use. You can adjust the blade in tiny 0.3mm increments to get the exact length you need for that perfect facial hair style. Additionally, the shaver features a safety travel lock to protect against switching on in your bag (I’ve had that happen with other brands in the past, causing me to scramble inside my bag to stop the noise during travel – especially as it would run the battery down unnecessarily too!).
The V2 trimmer comes ready with four different-sized heads along with a mini brush (for cleaning the device), charging dock and cables.
Usability
The Brio shaver is essential for guys looking for a fantastic close shave that’s easy to maintain. You can quickly grab the trimmer from its charge stand each morning and give your face a once-over before heading out.
The ability to swap over different heads is a simple affair (they just pop on and off), ensuring you can trim different lengths depending on your preference (such as the face, under the nose, and neck) with ease. Additionally, you can use the shaver to trim hair on your head and even areas of the body, saving you money on buying additional self-care products.
Due to its smaller size, you can easily slip the trimmer into your bag for daily travel or into a side pocket of your luggage for longer trips or vacations. As the charge is long-lasting (an estimated 240 minutes), you can safely head out for days at a time without needing to transport the larger dock.
An extra Zero-Blade add-on is also available if you want a super close shave (to remove stray hairs or necks).
After using the V2 over the course of a few weeks, I am more than impressed with the smooth shave it provides. The mini-size adjustments are also fantastic, making sure that my facial hair looks photoshoot-ready every time. Thanks to its vast power bank storage, I only need to charge it occasionally, so it’s always ready to go.
Value For Money
I have owned more than a few beard trimmers in my adult years, all at varied price points, and I can safely testify that grabbing a budget shaver will inevitably cost you more in the long run. You will need to replace them within a short time frame, thanks to cheaper parts, breakages or just a poor shave. The Brio Beard Trimmer sits at a very modest $120, and when you consider all the features available, plus the quality shave, it is more than well worth the cost (the long battery life is worth the entry fee alone!).
Packaging
The shaver box certainly belongs in the ‘Apple’ era. It has a smooth matt finish and minimal text, featuring a plain white box with an image of the shaver positioned on the front using a spot varnish finish. The box lid slides tightly yet smoothly open, and inside, each object is held neatly in place within a sturdy cut-out plastic compartment or individual mini box.
Overall
If you are searching high and low for a replacement beard trimmer, look no further – the Brio Beardscape V2 offers fantastic design, top-of-the-range functionality, an exceptional shave, and all at a more than reasonable price point. Check them out today; you will not be disappointed. It’s definitely my new go-to when it comes to beard maintenance.
