The Mon Carbone brand launched way back in 2007, beginning with small leather goods and smartphone cases (incidentally, this was around the time Apple entered the mobile market), and their keen eye for quality and style was apparent as soon the first collection hit the shelves.
The name Mon Carbone tells the tale of how they aim to use high-end quality carbon fiber materials in almost all of their products. After a handful of years cornering the market in smaller accessories, they have decided to turn their hand to something much larger – namely travel luggage. Leading straight in my latest review, I will give their newest model a thorough test drive.
Style & Design
As soon as you lay your eyes upon the luggage, you will instantly be in awe at its marvel of design – the shape is typical of luggage, rectangular, but it’s down to the details that set it apart from the competition. The Flextreme casing has a sleek structure (that is thin but impact-resistant) with horizontal lines running across the body. My version uses a unique deep racing green colourway (other options include grey and white), which can be paired with a selection of darker colours in your outfit (I opted for a formal charcoal overcoat and green roll-neck jumper). Its unique hue has the added benefit of allowing you to notice it quickly at the airport pick-up. The contrasting parts of the case include a dark grey (handle, locking mechanism, and wheels), which complements the main body.
Functionality
The luggage boasts many features, such as the TSA lock for extra peace of mind during travel (to ensure your contents are untouched), a solid wheel structure for better traction during transport, and an easy grip handle to allow easier movement. The inside is spacious, with multi-zip closures on each side to safely store all of your belongings with a novel anti-bacterial lining to help keep germs at bay during packing and unpacking.
