Zante – The Hidden Beauty Of Greece
If you are looking for a new beach destination for your next holiday, my latest lifestyle article will guide you in the right direction. I will share my thoughts on Zante (also known as Zakynthos), one of the Ionian Islands around Greece. Click to find out more about this stunning beach-style location.
Zante is undoubtedly a wonderful island, featuring fantastic scenery and places to visit (and definitely should be on your bucket list of destinations). In fact, Eve and I visited this beautiful island this year—you can actually see my summer shirt outfits snapped during our trip. We stayed at the excellent Lesante Blu resort, which offered phenomenal rooms (ours featured a swim-up pool), views, dining, and facilities (check out Eve’s hotel review).
In the following sections, I will explore some of the highlights of this enchanting island.
An Array Of Beautiful Beaches
If you love the sea and sand, you will be right at home in Zante, which features a vast number of the most breathtaking beaches in all of Greece.
Navagio Beach (also known as Shipwreck Beach) is one of the most famous, home to high, towering cliff faces looking over the crystal clear waters and the remains of a shipwrecked boat strewn across the soft sandy shore. Additionally, you can visit other notable beaches, such as Kalamaki and Laganas, which are perfect sandy areas for sunbathing and exploring.
You can even take one of the many locally available boat rides (Eve and I hired our own boat—with personal skippers) and journey around the island, enjoying the wonderful views (and, if lucky, spotting the endangered sea turtles).
Thanks to the inclusion of all sorts of different beaches, from those based around the busy resorts to the secluded coves and caves away from the public gaze, Zante is an amazing place to visit for sun worshippers.
Bustling Nightlife
When the sun sets, Zante’s nightlife comes alive, drawing visitors from across the globe who want to experience its unique and energetic atmosphere. If you want to indulge in something truly memorable, Zante events are particularly famous for their boat parties. Guests can dance all night long under the clear stars in the sky as your vessel cruises along the gorgeous turquoise Ionian ocean.
Laganas is one of the most popular areas, boasting a nightlife full of diverse restaurants, bars, and clubs that stay open until the early morning. Zakynthos is an incredible destination for those looking for a fun-packed vacation, whether you want a chilled beachfront bar or an all-night party event.
The Wonders Below
If you want to explore beyond the surface beauty, Zanta is filled with a world of wonders waiting to be explored. First up, we have the Blue Caves, which offer stunningly colourful waters and natural arches. They are accessible via boat tours (which I revealed earlier) or even snorkelling to get up close and personal with the stunning environment (especially the local marine life and geology found in these underwater caves).
Alternately, go one step further and scuba dive (with more advanced equipment) at the local hotspots, overflowing with a wealth of coral reefs, sea caves, and ancient ruins (for those Tomb Raider vibes!).
Ancient Ruins
If you enjoy learning about the vibrant history of the places you visit, you will be spoilt for choice in Zante, which contains many cultural sites and ancient ruins to investigate. For example, Zakinthos Town includes a variety of historical landmarks, Venetian architecture, and several ancient monasteries, each telling a tale of the island’s unique history.
Additionally, you can visit the Church of St.Dionysios (which is dedicated to the island’s very own patron saint) and the Byzantine Museum, where you can discover even more treasures. The island delivers a fantastic mix of modern-day charm and history within its beautiful landscape. It is perfect for solo travellers or as a couples retreat.
If you have been endlessly searching for the perfect destination for your next holiday, definitely consider adding Zante to your shortlist. With its stunning beaches, glorious seas, and heart-pounding nightlife, you will not be disappointed (only when it is time to leave!).
