This is not the first time I have featured Vero Watches on my style blog (and actually the second time I have talked about one of their Smokey Bear Models – check my earlier feature). Each time (pun intended), I have been more extremely impressed with the look and quality on offer. The brand is certainly one to keep an eye on, constantly releasing unique designs that are not only different from the norm, but can hold their own in this competitive market. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the meat of the review!
Style & Design
You very rarely see a watch that boasts a blue face and case, yet this is what we have with the Smokey Bear Blue Skies Edition. The contrast of the cool hue against the brown strap is bold yet effective (though the included alternative blue strap lets you go full ‘blue’ if that’s what takes your fancy!). The numbers and hands opt for a beige colour, which, along with the bear logo, really pops! The 38mm round case is a fantastic size (not too big or too small) and suits most wrist sizes.
Internally, the timepiece sports a Japanese Seiko NH38A Automatic Movement with a 41-hour power reserve (ensuring you can keep great time during your activities and adventures). Finally, the green Super-LumiNova hands and numerals let you read the watch in low-light environments.

Wearability & Comfort
Although the watch isn’t typically smart nor formal, its shape and design can easily be worn pretty much anywhere – whether it’s an important event, romantic dinner, or a casual evening with friends. Not to mention the Smokey Bear face would be a fantastic talking point if there is a lull in the conversation!
The comfort factor is definitely worth mentioning – both straps are soft and smooth, wrapping around your wrist with ease (no worry of any discomfort or pain). You could happily wear this timepiece all day long, and soon forget you are even wearing it.
Value For Money
Prices in the horological sector can start extremely low and rise to astronomical levels. Fortunately, Vero has offered the Smokey Bear Blue at a very reasonable price point, sitting at around $525 / £390 (before any discounts). When you consider the style, quality, workmanship, and ‘fun’ vibe, it’s a great purchase.
Packaging
The box for the watch is definitely unique – a slip-case featuring the ‘Smokey Bear’ text along with the mascot’s face at the bottom is eye-catching. On the reverse, you will find a hand-drawn image of the timepiece, along with a few notes about the mechanism and Smokey Bear name. Once removed, you’ll uncover a cardboard box with a soft foam lining, with the watch and second strap secured safely in place (along with an information card). The watch also includes a protective sticker on the face, keeping it scratch-free during transit.
Overall
Gotta say, Vero Watches has hit the mark once again! The beautifully striking Smokey Bear Blue Skies Edition looks the part, features top-quality construction and parts, and is all wrapped up in a delightful package!
