WIS Straps (Watch Innovation Straps) is based in Dallas, Texas, and offers a fantastic range of premium watch straps that allow you to wear alternative colours and fabrics on your wrist (without splashing out on a new expensive timepiece). Perhaps you are tired of the basic steel bracelet and want a classic brown leather style? Or you want to stand out from the crowd with a bold-coloured rubber model, then WIS Strap has a design just for you!
I came across the brand as my Dad (who you can see here) was having a little trouble opening/closing the bracelet clasp on his Tag Heuer Formula 1 Automatic (I myself also find it difficult to operate!). As such, I was browsing for options that would allow my Dad to wear his Tag more regularly (instead of just spinning around in the watch winder) – after a quick search, I stumbled across WIS Straps and was overwhelmed with the items they offered. In the following review, I will look at four of their designs and share my thoughts on style, quality, value for money and more. Carry on reading to find out more!
Style & Design
The visual appearance of the WIS Straps is undoubtedly striking – simple, yet effective and will easily elevate the style of your timepiece. Depending on your personal preference, you can choose a variety of style models which include –
- Leather: the undeniable classic, it is available in a variety of colours (including alligator if you want to go the extra mile!).
- Rubber: This design is more understated (available in traditional or quick release) and has a smooth touch feel. It also boasts a waterproof construction (if you are a fan of deep-sea diving).
- Nato: Last up is the nylon webbing model, which is ideal for everyday wear due to its durability and comfort.
Each design type is available in several colours, ranging from basic (yet effective) browns, blacks, and greys to more eye-catching blues, oranges, and whites. The WIS Strap collection is available for several different designer watch brands that include –
- Rolex
- Omega
- Tag Heuer
- Breitling
- Longines
Whichever design you choose, you will make a bold statement when you enter the room (everyone will surely be drawn to your wrist).
Ease Of Use
To swap the straps on your watch, you just need a very basic skill level (and a spring bar tool, which the brand also offers). You simply take the tool, slide it inside the small holes within the lug area of the watch, apply pressure to the flanges of the spring bar (compress gently), and it will release. The existing bracelet/strap can then be removed (repeat for both sides).
To replace the strap with the new model, simply reverse the process—position one of the spring bars (attached to the strap) into one of the holes, then position the second bar close to where the second hole is (although this may take a few goes as it is largely guesswork). Once it slots in, you are ready to go with your upgraded watch firmly wrapped around your wrist, ready to dazzle!
One of the top-selling points of the WIS Strap models is their ease of use. Many premium watches (although budget brands are often just as guilty) feature straps and clasps that are difficult to operate, which makes wearing them a chore. These straps remove that issue entirely, as every design available is a simple affair to connect (so you can grab your watch and go).
Quality
Each WIS Strap boasts fantastic workmanship—no flaws or loose threads are visible (no matter the design or material). Special mention goes to the leather designs crafted in Italy (for that extra special artisan touch).
Value For Money
The price point for the WIS straps starts at £30 for the Nato Nylon models and peaks at £80 for the premium Alligator styles. Nevertheless, thanks to the impressive quality on offer, the cost is more than justified, especially if you are glamming up your Swiss Automatic (after all, it is far more budget-friendly than investing in a brand new watch!).
Packaging
Each strap arrives within its own compact transparent sleeve, which allows you to view your desired strap design before installation. This packaging protects its contents, and the outside branding is fully visible without being overbearing. I definitely give it a thumbs up.
Conclusion
If you are in the market for a replacement strap for your favourite timepiece, look no further than the collection from Watch Innovation Straps. They offer fabulous-looking pieces that are easy to operate, boast exceptional craftsmanship, and won’t break the bank. Check them out today so you can revitalise your tired-looking watch and make it fabulous once more.
