Even though living in the UK has many benefits, on the downside, we have to deal with heavy rain and wind throughout the year (peaking during the autumn and winter), so it is vital that you choose clothes that will protect you from the elements (especially if you enjoy an early morning jog or long-distance walk for your cardio).
REAL (whom I have featured previously in an earlier review of their T-shirt and Shorts) have launched the Eminence jacket, which could be the solution to this problem, so without further ado, carry on reading!
Style & Design
One of the first things you notice about the eminence jacket is its incredible visual style, created in collaboration between the REAL brand and Italian designer Filippo Di Nardo.
The outerwear piece is bathed in a deep navy colour with key details that make it stand out from the crowd. Minimal branding is evident, aside from the eye-catching chest logo and a handful of subtle splashes of green and red throughout.
The overall structure uses the classic bomber jacket silhouette as a baseline, but with modern-day advancements – fabric, breathability and shape. The end result is an unmistakably eye-catching number that will elevate your activewear wardrobe choices.
Construction & Functionality
REAL has opted for advanced materials during the manufacturing process, including a marquee fabric (by MecTex) that allows for ease of movement thanks to its high elastane content, along with an additional 1% carbon, which adds extra strength and stability (increasing the jacket’s longevity tenfold).
The outer body of the jacket has been fully treated to repel water, so you can still head outside when the rain is hitting hard. Furthermore, the mesh lining uses an antibacterial agent (Salvador) which effectively neutralises odours and boosts moisture control, so you can enjoy hardcore workout sessions without worrying about excessive perspiration that could impact your fitness goals.

Wearability
The jacket may have been built for fitness, but thanks to its stylish good looks, you are not limited to wearing it solely for your exercise sessions. Granted, it will certainly look the part paired with joggers (full-length or shorts) and sports trainers when you are out on a run, ensuring you look fashionably on-point as you zoom around the local park.
However, you can also rock the Eminence with a casual day outfit – think, a plain t-shirt, a pair of jeans with smart sneakers. Alternatively, it can even work for a smart-casual ensemble during an evening out with the lads – polo shirt, slim chinos and a pair of boots (Chelsea’s would be a great pairing).
Sizing
The Eminence jacket is available in the full range of sizes (from S to XXL). I decided on the smallest option; it was neither too tight nor too snug, and overall it was a great fit with enough room to move around easily (ideal for a fitness-style jacket).
Value For Money
There is no hiding the fact that the eminence jacket holds a high price point, but I have always stood firm on the belief that you need to splash the cash to enjoy quality items (especially when it comes to clothing). REAL have crammed this number with everything you demand in sports outerwear! You will be wearing this jacket for many seasons to come, throughout all-weather conditions; as such, the initial outlay (even if it is high) is a worthy investment.
