Top 5 Trainers For Comfort And Style
There is an almost endless supply of new releases in the sneaker market, so finding that perfect pair for yourself can be daunting. If you are hunting for a stylish shoe or a comfy go-to pair, finding the balance between comfort and fashion can be very difficult. Are you likely to follow the hype for the latest head-turner, or are you more at home with a timeless retro classic?
In my latest article, I’ve done the legwork for you and narrowed your choices down to 5 fashionable sneakers which keep comfort in mind – an ideal pairing with a custom jacket and fitted trousers, a casual street look or pretty much any outfit you can muster from your wardrobe.
New Balance 550 White Green
Created in 1989 by legendary sneaker designer Steven Smith, this undeniably iconic retro pair fits the bill with practicality and wearability in mind for any season. This shoe boasts a perforated leather upper and a rubber sole for much-needed traction. The 550 was eventually discontinued thanks to new and more technologically advanced sneakers hitting the market; their demise, fortunately, was not permanent. Aimé Leon Dore founder and New Balance collaborator Teddy Santis brought them back from the dead with a 2020 partnership with his New York streetwear brand.
Low-profile silhouettes are always a passion of mine, and this season they are once more in high demand; check out Laced.com to add the stunning New Balance 550 White Green to your wardrobe with a quality sneaker that ticks all of those comfort and style boxes!
Nike Air Force 1 Low ’07 White
The Air Force 1 is one of the top statement sneakers from Nike, adopted by many fashionistas, celebrities and influencers worldwide. Originally released in 1982 and even now 40 years on, this monochrome classic sends wearers on a nostalgia trip like no other. The Nike Air Force 1 Low ’07 White variation is a basketball-inspired shoe with a crisp white leather upper, complemented by the embroidered Swoosh. Regarding comfort, you will be in good hands thanks to Nike’s infamous Air cushioning.

Nike Air Max 1 86 OG Big Bubble Red
The Nike Air Max 1 86 OG Big Bubble Red fuses a retro colour palette with pioneering tech to allow sneaker lovers to enjoy one of the brand’s most important game-changers. Designer Tinker Hatfield’s debut design for Nike raised the curtain on the Nike Air technology (previously hidden), allowing everyone to see the air bubble inside the heel. This innovation was initially out of practicality, enabling a wider, more stable Air bag for extra comfort. Inadvertently, Hatfield created an aesthetic that Nike has used on each of their Nike Air Max trainers ever since.
The 2023 OG Big Bubble formed part of Nike’s annual ‘Air Max Day‘ special event that celebrates the important and lasting effect of the brand’s most famous sneaker. The original Air-bubble size has been used for a sublime cushion for your feet, paired with a combination of mesh upper and suede overlays, and finished off with University Red mudguards to create a truly impressive 80s icon throwback.
Adidas Samba OG White Black
The Adidas Samba has a rich history, and its timeless three stripes design will work with any wardrobe. This classic sneaker was first launched in 1949 and designed by Adi Dassler (founder of the German sportswear giant). During its inception, rubber soles were added to allow for extra grip on Europe’s icy football pitches, yet this seminal shoe’s connection to football doesn’t end with just its design features. The Samba was unveiled before the 1950 World Cup, hosted in Brazil and named in honour of the event.
The Adidas Samba White Black’s leather upper features an overlay in soft suede, which is paired effectively against the darker Three Stripes for a fantastic contrast. The ‘Samba’ name is etched into the side wall in gold foil for a lovely finish. These sneakers would surely be a top-level addition to your footwear rotation.
Air Jordan 1 Mid Light Smoke Grey
The Air Jordan is a shoe that has transcended beyond its creation and now sits proudly in the history books, thanks to the admiration and love for a sporting great. The Air Jordan 1 Mid Light Smoke Grey Black uses a trio combo of grey, white and black neutrals (perfect for any occasion and season). The side panelling offers a contrasting stitch Swoosh, paired with the Jordan Wings logo, for a striking balance between branding and beauty.
Peter Moore designed the Nike Air Jordan 1 way back in 1984, and they have undoubtedly stood the test of time. These trainers can be rocked as easily on the basketball court or any city street, undeniably the ultimate statement sneaker of a generation and beyond.
