Herring Shoes are not just responsible for luxury footwear; they also have a substantial number of luggage options available in their collection, including briefcases, doctor’s bags, laptop covers, wash bags, and, of course, holdalls.

For my latest blog review, I will share my thoughts on their Dorchester II Holdall and discuss my findings on design, function, quality and value for money. Continue reading to learn more.

Style & Design

The Herring Dorchester II bag is undoubtedly no slouch in the looks department. I have encountered many different bags and holdalls in my time, and very few match the striking visuals of this beautiful accessory!

The blend of beige canvas and brown calf leather harks back to the classic ’50s and ’60s of Hollywood, where you would see the A-lister crew enjoying some downtime on their private cruise ships (or even sitting beside them in their Ferrari 250 GTO as they cruise through the beautiful mountainous vistas).

The bag opts for a twin zip design with a Velcro fastener, allowing for ample access to all your items during your travels. Minimal branding is on show, with a suede square affixed to the longer side, showcasing the Herring name without appearing too imposing.

Size & Dimensions

The Dorchester II Holdall, at first glance, looks smaller and more compact; however, this is very deceiving (I was actually shocked myself when I unpacked the holdall!). The bag boasts an impressive internal size, allowing you to easily transport all of your belongings (from clothes to your essential tech-goodies).

The exact size specifications are as follows –

  • 52cm Length
  • 29cm Wide
  • 27cm High

Wearability & Usage

Thanks to its gorgeous beige and brown colourway, this fantastic holdall will match with pretty much any casual or formal ensemble you care to wear that day (from jeans and a jacket to trousers and a fitted overcoat). The additional strap allows you to quickly sling it over your shoulder in a pinch, freeing your hands for that essential smartphone usage!

Along with the ample internal space available, there is also an in-built elastic organiser for all your stationery items, as well as a larger zippered pocket for your extra bits and pieces (wallet/cash/documents).

Furthermore, there is also a shoe pocket, accessible from the outer body (on the short edge), so you can keep your footwear safe and easily accessible if you need a quick footwear swap. This extra pocket also keeps the contents of your main bag compartment free from any grime that may have settled on the base of your shoes – definitely a game changer!

Value For Money

Quality luggage almost certainly requires that you lay a formidable amount of cash on the table, and the Dorchester II is no different in this regard. The RRP currently sits at £190; nevertheless, the style, shape and functionality on offer more than justifies the hit on your wallet.

Overall

If you are on the lookout for a new piece of luggage that will turn the tide of your style game during your travels, then the Dorchester II is the essential accessory that will tick all of those gentleman lifestyle boxes!
