Boda Skins Antique Brown Kay Michaels Biker Leather Jacket Review

Boda Skins Antique Brown Kay Michaels Leather Biker Jacket Review

I’ve kept a close eye on the Boda Skins brand for some time, regular readers may remember my previous article in which I talked about their products and history. As much as I loved their look, I never considered one for myself, at the time I believed they wouldn’t suit my own particular style, due to the classic biker designs. But then something changed, well to be more precise, I spotted their Antique Brown leather variant and it turned everything upside down!

Typically I had turned up late to the party, it seems this limited edition style had been available for some months now, so inevitably the smaller sizes which I required were in very short supply (in fact their online customer service team informed me the XS with silver hardware only had one left in stock!) I was pretty much left with no choice and had to order this final one! (The gunmetal and gold hardware versions still had stock, but they were not really my style).

I was quite surprised at the speed in which my parcel arrived (next day from the date of order!) I duly tore into the packaging to unleash its payload. The few doubts I had were quickly squashed, the leather was gloriously soft and supple, particularly those padded arms! Its colour is a beautiful deep medium brown, with little areas of distressing (nothing too major, just enough to clearly distinguish itself from a brand new looking model). Aesthetically the jacket has successfully ticked all the right boxes, however if the fit is subpar, then this amounts to nothing.

Upon slipping the jacket on, I knew instantly that I was in for a treat. It fitted perfectly in the shoulders and arms, nicely fitted with no baggy areas (there is a touch of looseness in the elbow area, but this is to be expected so you can actually move your arms!). The hem length stopped around the waist band of my jeans (so no problem there!). Finally we come to the final and critical test, which can make or break any outerwear piece… The sleeve length! Fortunately I wasn’t disappointed, the end of the sleeve fell almost flush at my wrist. Many jackets before, have fallen at this last hurdle, I’m so happy Boda Skins got it right!

In summary, I’m happy to conclude that this is truly an impressive jacket! Great fit, style and colour! The antique brown can be paired with pretty much anything in my wardrobe, dressed up smart or casual depending on your mood. In fact, I’m so enamoured with my purchase, I’m considering purchasing the black version!

As the Antique Brown style is limited edition, you might need to consider ordering yours right now! I believe they have various sizes and hardware choices available, but for how long? Save yourself any regrets and get yours now! Hi Adam,

Just wondering your measurements? Chest size etc?
I’m a 38 and 5ft 9. I have a Boda Skins Aviator in Medium and considering getting a Small in the Kay Michaels.
Just wondering if I should size down considering you take an xs.

    Thanks.

      Hi JJ,

I am a size 34 in most suits and jackets, very occasionally a 36, but mostly a 34. I’m also 5ft 9. The XS fits me nice and snug! I think size 34 is consistent with their XS, so if your M fits you well, perhaps the Kay Michaels will too in an M? I know they’re designed with a slim fit anyway, so that might make it more tailored.

      Thanks!
