FMCo NY: From Motorcycle Leather To Fashion Forward
The leather jacket has spent the better part of a century cultivating an image before becoming a true style icon. Whereas bikers, clubs, rock stars, off-duty models, and movie antiheroes may not have much in common, the leather jacket successfully unites them all. Somewhere along the way, this type of jacket became less an item of clothing, and more a piece of effortlessly cool fashion mythology. FMCo NY – The History
The brand’s parent company (First MFG Co.) launched four decades ago with a very New York proposition: create good-quality, well-constructed jackets, but don’t make people pay over the odds simply for the privilege of owning them. The business initially found its footing in the motorcycle world, supplying shops and riders who incorporate leatherwear into everyday life. From those relatively small New York beginnings, it grew into a major wholesaler. Then in 2016, the brand went one step further and branched out into retail.
Beyond Motorcycle Jackets
FMCo began applying the expertise it had built in making motorcycle leather to a new question: what else can a leather jacket be?
The answer is now spread across its entire collections – for the leather traditionalist, you will discover classic motorcycle jackets, bomber jacket designs, and aviator styles. On the other hand, they also offer outerwear pieces that look much more contemporary, blending an American sportswear aesthetic with a modern street style.

This breadth is increasingly the point that the FMCo brand is trying to make, and so far, their journey has been a huge success.

It’s an overall reflection of New York City itself, housing diversity in a natural way. FMCo NY started with the simple motorcycle jacket, but has expanded into a much bigger wardrobe.
