How To Look After Your Stylish Men’s Home
For many men, owning a stylish luxury home is an end-of-the-rainbow achievement. However, even if your home looks the part and features fancy decor, you need to keep on top of cleaning, tidying, and maintenance. Similarly, you need to incorporate useful items that will elevate your comfort level and build on your aesthetic choices. In my latest article, I will offer tips on how to ensure your house looks good and feels good. Continue reading for more.
Start With The Floors And Soft Furnishings
Furniture choice is arguably the first thing anyone notices when they enter a room, but floors also have a massive impact on the overall sense of comfort (and cleanliness) in a home. Dust, pet hairs, outdoor grit, and the inevitable spills and splashes of your favourite beverages, especially in high-traffic areas, are prone to these unwanted elements.
Hard floors are generally pretty easy to look after with a little regular sweeping and mopping. However, your choice of cleaning products will largely depend on the type of floor. For instance, wooden floors require a very different approach than tiles or natural stone (remember, the wrong cleaner can damage an expensive floor, so always check the manufacturer’s recommendations).
On the other hand, carpets and rugs require a slightly different approach. Use a high-quality vacuum cleaner to remove any loose dirt before it becomes deeply embedded into the fibres (as it will then be very difficult to remove).
If a spill does occur, deal with it as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage. That said, consider the material, as overly harsh chemicals can do more harm than good.
Sometimes, your carpet may need a more intensive deep clean (especially if it is in a main area of your home). The experts at Sunshine Coast Cleaning have useful tips and guides you can check out and see how they do it (so you can take inspiration). Although you may need to just bite the bullet and hire a team to do the work for you, particularly if you need a superior deep cleanse for stubborn stains.
Do Not Overlook The Kitchen And Bathroom
A beautiful house can very quickly lose its sheen if the kitchen and bathroom are ignored. However, these two rooms do not require a complex maintenance routine. In the kitchen, wipe the worktops after preparing food and drinks, keep the sink clean, and don’t let the dishes pile up.
You will need to pay the appliances a bit of attention – build-up of grease around the cooker, fingerprints on the fridge, and food crumbs in the cupboards are all things you can easily miss.
Bathrooms require a similar process. Spray and wipe down the tiles and glass shower panels, and give the sink and bath a once-over. The toilet itself will also need a deep clean each week to keep it looking spruce!
You Need To Feel Like You In Your Own Home
Even if you have the most visually appealing house on your street (and the envy of the neighbours!) and an effective cleaning and maintenance strategy in place, sometimes it still doesn’t feel like your own. In this case, you need to upgrade your space with new items, accessories, furniture, or even a fresh lick of paint!
The overall design is fully dependent on the personal vibe you are looking to achieve. Some guys prefer a minimalist, clean aesthetic, while others go for darker shades, vintage items, or even mix and match different styles.
In short, there is no mandatory rule that you need to mindlessly follow when it comes to decor. Avoid the pitfalls of buying pieces just because they’re “popular” or look good in online images when, in truth, you don’t really like them, or they don’t match your personality.
You also need to consider how you use every room in your home. For instance, if you are a bit of a bookworm and love reading a good novel, invest in a cosy chair and a bright reading lamp. In contrast, if you enjoy social gatherings, practical seating is a worthwhile addition.
Keep in mind, you do not need to match everything perfectly. Focus on a pair of complementary colours, carefully chosen accessories, and consistent materials, and you will easily get the job done.

Looking after a stylish men’s house isn’t just about having an immaculate place to sleep. It is meant to be your comfortable oasis, where you can unwind, spend time with people you love, and enjoy your free time.
