Allsaints Falun Charcoal Grey Overcoat
This year, I once again decided to hunt for a suitable winter weather coat. Historically I go through the motions towards the close of the year and after many failed attempts, spring starts to roll around again! So, I promised myself next time I’d finally succeed. Well, after spotting the Allsaints Falun Charcoal Grey Overcoat, I think my never ending search may be finally over!
One of my greatest challenges in finding the perfect coat was of course fit, either too wide in the arms, too tight in the chest or the worst of all my bugbears, sleeves which are just too long (I detest seeing a beautiful coat ruined by a overlong sleeve lengths). Fortunately, there is a revolution in menswear for smaller sizes, as was shown with current trend of slim fitting sweaters and this has now crossed over to outerwear. Allsaints is one such brand leading the pack with clothing for smaller guys (however, they seem to be in limited numbers, it was quite the challenge acquiring the Falun in my size).
After successfully chasing down the elusive XS, then eagerly awaiting its arrival, I tore into the parcel to retrieve my new overcoat. I was instantly pleased with the charcoal colour and the heavy duty feel. I slipped the coat on, greeted with a great fit for me. Well fitted in the shoulders, just the right hem length and the sleeves were so very close to being perfect, half an inch shorter would have been ideal. However, if worn with a very thick jumper (a likely scenario during the Winter!) then the arm sleeves are held up higher, causing the end of the sleeve to align closer to the wrists.
Incidentally this coat has a very novel feature, inside the outer part of the coat is a false blazer jacket. Wearing it open gives the impression you have a nice suit jacket on underneath for an extra smart appearance. Plus, a bonus effect is the extra warmth this provides!
For my first outing, I teamed up the Allsaints Falun Coat with my Hudson Barbara High Rise Skinny Jeans In Hideaway, my Kurt Geiger Baxter Chelsea Boots and my Burberry Large Classic Cashmere Scarf In Cornflower Blue.
So in conclusion, I’m incredibly pleased with my Allsaints Charcoal Grey Falun Coat and couldn’t wait to feature it on my men’s fashion blog now that my search is finally at a close. What do you think of my latest acquisition?
