River Island Chevron Jacket 90’s Throwback Outfit

It’s been a while since I posted an outfit on my blog, so let’s fix that with a 90’s throwback inspired ensemble. Read on to find out more!

Once the 90’s finally ended and with it some of the more questionable clothing trends, the fashion world breathed a much-deserved sigh of relief. Everything after that point seemed to be on the up and once we reached the 2010s there didn’t seem to be any fashionable missteps, it all seemed to gel together nicely. But of course, as with all things in this world, designers begin to search high and low for new inspirations and it was only a matter of time till the ’90s were targeted, hoping to find out if anything we wore back then was truly salvageable and worth bringing bang up to date to 2018/2019. In keeping with this theme, my latest look has taken some inspiration from that bygone era.

Outfit

Instantly noticeable from the photos is my River Island Chevron Jacket which is surely candy for the eyes, harking back to the 1990s when plasticky shiny outerwear was all the rage, however with its chevron design it could easily have been seen rocking those 1980’s city streets. If red, navy and white aren’t your thing, River Island has a selection of different colourway options too.

Next up is the poster boy and girl shoe for the ‘Dad Trainer’ trend which is all the rage at the moment. The Fila Disruptor Sneakers hit the stores well over a year ago yet its popularity shows no signs of fizzling out just yet. I’ve actually had my eye on them since before Christmas, but only recently added them to my shoe collection. They are definitely unique to look at, but their large and bulky shape certainly takes some getting used to, but you certainly cannot fault the level of comfort they provide to your feet!

I finished the look with my number one most worn jeans from my collection – GRLFRND Candice Skinny Jeans In Love Hangover. The faded black denim combined with those authentic-looking knee rips truly completed my outfit.

Location

We chose a relatively deserted location for the shoot, one of the less well-known crescent areas of Bath. Yet its apparent unpopularity is undeserved, it offers some effective background effects for photos such as the distinctly curved wall in these accompanying photos (I love that effective swoop from the wall!).

What do you think of my latest look? Is 90’s style your thing or do you plan on staying away from that time zone as far as possible? Please let me know in the comments section below!
