Three Budget Watches That Mimic Premium Models

Three Budget Watches That Mimic Premium Models

Luxury watches are elegant accessories that can elevate any outfit. However, they typically boast a very high price point. In my latest article, I offer a solution to this dilemma, suggesting affordable versions that capture the style of their more expensive counterparts. Continue reading to find out more.

There are so many dapper watches to choose from, with many offering cheaper styles that look very similar yet at a much more affordable price point. Thus, you can achieve the aesthetic without breaking the bank (or feeling the wrath of your bank manager!). In the following section, I suggest three budget models to compete with their much more pricey bigger brothers!

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Vs Tissot PRX

First up, we have the impressive Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, a world-renowned watch worn by celebrities, sports stars, politicians, and world leaders. Unfortunately, this horological wonder featuring a bold angular case and iconic dial costs a staggering $30,000! As such, few will be able to own one.

Do not fear; if you would love to add one to your collection, then you can opt for the Tissot PRX, which is available at a more cost-effective RRP of $750 (which, even so, is far from budget!). This cool model gained massive social media hype, with the hashtags #prx receiving 130,000 posts and #tissot gaining almost a million! The watch features a design inspired by the 70s era, thanks to its integrated bracelet and minimalistic style. It is undeniable that this little piece looks very similar to the Royal Oak, particularly the fantastic tapestry dials.

Omega Moonwatch Vs Omega Swatch Moonwatch

Second up is the classic hand-wound Omega Moonwatch, famously known for being worn by the Apollo 11 astronauts (including Neil Armstrong), when the Swiss brand was heavily involved in space exploration when NASA began testing watches for its space program. The timepiece features a silver bracelet with a black chronograph dial. It is a timeless watch that has stood the test of time, and its price point sits in the high thousands.

Its cheaper alternative is relatively new, hitting the market in 2023 when Omega joined forces with Swatch to allow everyone to enjoy their quality timepieces. The Omega Swatch Moonwatch looks almost exactly the same as the premium Omega model, yet it features a more casual Velcro strap and quartz movement (instead of automatic). The watch also boasts a moon design on the rear of the casing.

Rolex Day Date Vs Seiko 5

Finally, I will discuss the Rolex Day Date, launched in 1956 and the first model to feature both the date and day (spelt out completely). Over the years, it has been associated with USA presidents, and, as such, its nickname is ‘The President‘. It is a beautiful watch to wear, especially for important formal occasions, and is truly a fan-favourite for horological enthusiasts.

If you want those iconic looks at a bargain price, check out the Seiko 5, which has been on the market for over 50 years (released in 1963). It has received praise from a multitude of areas since its release, including reviewers, shows and online blogs and forums (often described as the perfect first mechanical watch). The timepiece is available in a wide variety of colours and designs and includes the Diaflex mainspring (the very first model to include it, famed for its almost unbreakable nature). The Seiko 5 is available in several special editions and has gained massive hype over the years for some of its special editions.

Named for its feature-packed functions –

  • Automatic Movement
  • Day-date display at 3 O’Clock
  • Water Resistance
  • Recessed crown at 4 O’Clock
  • Case and bracelet designed for toughness

These three options allow you to acquire a fantastic-looking watch that looks like a designer piece but is available at a fraction of the cost. Which model would you want to add to your wardrobe accessories collection? I’d love to hear your choice in the comments section below.
