5 Men’s Sweaters To Upgrade Your Wardrobe

Sweaters are an essential part of any fashionable man’s wardrobe, with almost never-ending choices available, so in my latest blog post, I will be narrowing down the field with my top 5 picks. Continue reading to find out more.

Knitwear is a vital component when creating the perfect outfit, especially during the autumn and winter seasons. I own a vast selection of styles and types, and narrowing down one for each outfit can often be challenging! In the following list, I will offer tips on which kinds of sweaters to add to your collection.

Crew Neck Sweater

The fabled crew neck is the cornerstone of sweaters for your wardrobe – the simple design allows for so many style options. From wearing alone, paired with jeans or smart trousers, or layered over a button-down shirt for a preppy style, both allow for a superior and stylish ensemble. Of course, you can wear it underneath a casual jacket or a smart coat when the temperature drops even further! Additionally, if you struggle to find a stylish sweater in the men’s department, you could even venture into the women’s sweaters section, which typically offers a better selection using a variety of high-end fabrics and, more often than not, a better, slimmer cut (I’m no stranger to female clothing, regularly opting for women’s skinny jeans as seen here).

Roll-neck Sweater

I’ve always loved the look of a roll-neck (or turtle neck sweater); it harks back to the stand-out fashionable period of the ’60s and ’70s. It can be worn solo for a very ‘Milk Tray Man‘ vibe or worn under a blazer for an undeniably cool look. Opt for a sleek, plain design, either merino wool or ribbed, or a cable-knit style during those colder days.

Half-button Jumper

Half-button jumpers are the hybrid of standard sweaters and chunky cardigans, which, for me, are an excellent addition to your regular style choices. They add a much-needed touch of energy to an otherwise plain-looking sweater, especially if the design includes chunky coloured buttons. I would choose a cool grey, warm beige, or striking blue or green.

Patterned Jumper

If you are feeling low, throw on a patterned jumper to brighten up your day! Typically, I would propose a crew-neck model with an eye-catching print. Fairisle patterns are a great go-to, originally crafted on the Scottish island bearing the same name, and their popularity has spread across the globe. Alternatively, level up your look with a geometric print jumper or one with a bold designer logo or symbol.

Christmas Jumper

When the festive season is approaching, pull out your favourite slim-fitting Christmas jumper. Each year, there seem to be more and more options available for the fashionable guy! You can choose a funky print or pattern, a comical style, or even the aforementioned Fairisle print. No matter what kind you decide to go for, you will surely be rocking around the Christmas Tree when the 25th of December comes around once more!

With my selection of top men’s sweaters at the ready, you will soon be ticking off those style boxes for your next outfit ensemble – just remember to match them with tailored jeans or trousers and a pair of fashionable suede boots or leather lace-ups. What do you think of my jumper choices? Will you be wearing any of these styles during the current winter season? Let me know in the comments section below.
