Belstaff Talbrook Navy Jacket Review

Belstaff Talbrook Navy Jacket Review

Time for another review on my men’s fashion blog, this time I will be casting my gaze over the Belstaff Talbrook Jacket and its suitability for the warmer weather.

With the summer months approaching, a lightweight jacket can be an effective fashion accessory in your arsenal against the ever-changing weather (particularly if you live in the UK!). Belstaff has a large selection of outerwear, many of which tick all the boxes for what I am looking for. After browsing their current collection, I narrowed it down to the Belstaff Talbrook Navy Jacket, which boasts of a lighter weight fabric with waterproof properties. Let’s see if the well established English brand has a winner on its hands!

Design & Style

The Belstaff Talbrook jacket is designed with the perfect complement of functionality and style, with its classic zip-up approach and a traditional collar. The stand out noticeable feature of this Belstaff coat is the large chest pockets on opposite sides, which are fastened down with hidden snap buttons, ensuring the jacket keeps a sleek minimalistic look. I chose the dark navy colour as I found it more suitable to my style, its deep shade of blue pairs easily with nearly everything in my wardrobe. There is a very minimal amount of branding, the only evidence of a logo is placed on the left arm, situated below the shoulder, made using an identical navy colour to discreetly blend in.

Fabric And Details

The jacket is constructed from a soft and lightweight 100 % polyester material, which is soft to the touch. The full-length zipper is a deep black, keeping with the low profile design. The sleeves include snap stud fastened cuffs if you feel the need to quickly undo them. There are no internal or side pockets, but the sizeable chest pockets are spacious enough to fit your daily necessities.

Wearability And Comfort

The jacket is a great addition to any wardrobe, particularly in the summer months when you need something to keep the evening breeze at bay. Additionally, thanks to its waterproof fabric, it’s an invaluable tool when the rain starts to fall. The Belstaff Talbrook is also a winner in terms of comfortability, thanks to the lightweight content of this jacket, it makes for an easy to wear outerwear choice. Once slipped over your shoulders, you can almost convince yourself that you are not even wearing anything, which is certainly a plus point if you are accustomed to heavy duty coats.

Sizing

My usual size is normally a small or even an extra small (depending on the brand), yet when choosing this jacket, I followed the online advice and went with a medium. This was a wise decision, allowing me to have some breathing room inside the jacket, additionally giving me a choice of wearing sweatshirts underneath. However, I could still have sized down if I wanted a slimmer fit.

Price And Value For Money

The Belstaff brand comes with a higher price tag than many of its contemporaries, however, in my experience, you have to pay that extra to receive a product with increased quality. The Talbrook jacket is no different in this regard, fantastic craftsmanship with no flaws in the construction or fabric and no loose threads to be seen.

Summary

This was my introductory encounter with the Belstaff brand, and first impressions are always very important! I’m pleased to say that I am very impressed, excellently designed with useful functionality, whilst providing a comfortable fit. Definitely high marks from me! I would love to try out one of their iconic leather jackets in the future and review it!
