How To Style A Men’s Vintage Outfit

Vintage clothing is an ideal addition to any man’s wardrobe, pushing their personal fashion to the next level. Due to the variety in styles through the ages when it comes to vintage clothing, choosing something that matches your style can often be overwhelming. Determining what is considered a good piece of vintage clothing can also be confusing. In my latest fashion blog article, I have created a list of different items to style your vintage outfit! Read on to find out more!

Vintage Shirts

Casual shirts are a great way to begin your vintage clothing journey, with many different varieties available. Fabric-wise, numerous options are available for pre-loved shirts, such as tweed, flannel or the classic 100% cotton. The style is a casual fit, so it will suit practically every body type and can be paired with almost anything (my favourite combination would be denim jeans and a pair of suede Chelsea Boots). Colour-wise go for something classic and timeless like browns, tans and beiges (especially around the fall season, but even so can be rocked throughout the whole year). There are many more different styles of shirts available and the Gitman Vintage Collection From Meadow is a great place to start if you are feeling a bit stumped.

Formal wear, such as an Oxford shirt, is another excellent choice for vintage options (holding up well after regular wear and washes), and these shirts have been a firm favourite for men since the 19th century. It is a classic and elegant style typically suitable for special occasions and everyday functions or at the office.

Denim Jeans

Jeans are one of the most popular choices for second-hand clothing; denim goes hand in hand with vintage. Jeans can get better with age thanks to how their appearance evolves with washing and wear and tear that causes distressing (the fact you can purchase factory distressed denim from most high-street stores speaks volumes).

You can pick out lighter-coloured shredded denim for summer evenings (or to brighten up those colder days). Dark denim jeans are suitable throughout the year but ensure you opt for a lighter-weight fabric to keep yourself cooler when the temperature reaches high numbers.

Vintage Watches

Accessories are an excellent choice if you are looking for something vintage, and watches are at the top of the list. Any time-pieces are suitable to snap up from a used retailer; however, Automatic Swiss Watches can allow you to grab a fantastic deal compared to the retail prices.

Unfortunately, high-end watches are notoriously faked, particularly the valuable internal mechanism. To help combat this, if looking for a second-hand watch, choose a well-respected company such as Watch-Finder, which employs experts in their field and they open up any watch they sell to ensure it is 100% legitimate.

Even so, you can still acquire some bargains on sites like eBay as long as you are careful (remember to examine the photos of the watch, box, serial numbers and warranty card).

What do you think of my pre-loved clothing ideas? Do they call out to you and fulfil your vintage clothing needs? If so, take a few minutes to let me know in the comments; I would love to hear what you think!
