Regular readers will likely have seen my earlier features discussing the Bells Of Steel Brand (such as the review of their heavy-duty workout bench), so I won’t delve into the brand’s history (although they have definitely come on leaps and bounds since their launch). It is a fitness brand that demands your attention if you are looking for gym kit. This time around, I will be focusing on their EZ Curl Bar and an assortment of dead bounce weight plates, so without further ado, let’s jump straight into the review!
Style & Design
The shape and form of an EZ Curl Bar (and weight plates) are somewhat of a standard across the board (and more often than not, it is down to the overall quality and a few aesthetic touches that make all the difference). Nevertheless, Bells Of Steel are renowned for crafting quality fitness equipment that will sit proudly in both a home workout setup and a commercial gym. The bar boasts a blend of black and silver finishes, whereas the rubber plates use a mix of black with pops of coloured text to differentiate between weight types (red, green, blue, yellow, and grey). Even the magnetic clamp collars opt for the same colour scheme, and all three elements feature a subtle touch of branding.

Usability
An EZ Curl Bar is sometimes dismissed out of hand (after all, a standard bar or even dumbbells can be used for the same exercises), but it can be a vital component in your equipment arsenal. If you have ever felt a twinge during a barbell curl or joint pain during shoulder exercises, the EZ Curl bar has been designed to offer ergonomic movement to protect your muscles and bones and help you still hit your workout goals. I myself have felt pain during standard movements, and after switching over to this type of bar, it was night and day. Each motion was much more comfortable, and you can even lift heavier weights more efficiently (rather than struggle due to the awkward angle of a standard straight bar).
Using this kit from Bells Of Steel is a simple affair; the EZ bar width allows you to quickly slide on the Olympic weight plates, and lock them in place with the magnetic clamp collars (which open and close easily, are strong, and hold even the heaviest plates firmly).
Special mention must go to the dead-bounce conflict bumper plates, coated with virgin rubber (with a low odour) that “bounce” when they hit the ground, protecting both your floor and your feet from excessive damage! They are easy to pick up, slot onto the bar, move around your gym, and stack when not in use.

Value For Money
Although investing in home-gym gear is an expensive game, Bells Of Steel always offers its kit at a great price point (boasting top-tier quality to boot!). The EZ Curl Bar costs £64.99 (at the time of publication), which is a reasonable outlay for a well-made, solid training bar that will certainly stand a beating during even the most intensive workout regime.
The dead bounce bumper plates are nothing short of amazing, thanks to their virgin rubber coating (which will protect your flooring even if dropped). Furthermore, the marked weight is 99% accurate (with only a +/- 1% variation), so you know your lifts are on target every time (many cheaper competitors use irregular weights, potentially causing injuries). You can either purchase plates as a pair or a set of different weights – all available at a very competitive price point.

Boost your home gym collection with the Bells Of Steel EZ Curl Bar & Dead Bounce Conflict Plates – together they make for an amazing team that will elevate your workouts thanks to the unparalleled quality at hand, great price, and understated style.
