Travel Ideas For Solo Explorers
If you are a fan of travel, the idea of a solo adventure can be thrilling but also worrying! In my latest article, I suggest a number of ideas to consider if you are about to embark on a holiday by yourself. Carry on reading for more.
One of the main concerns of solo travel is feeling alone in a foreign land, away from friends, family and familiar locations. Do not let this fear hold you back from what could be a fantastic experience. Always remember to focus on safety and always trust your instincts.
Many top lists for places to visit alone, for both men and women, include Iceland, Costa Rica, Fuerteventura, New Zealand, and Portugal. These countries feature an impressive array of things to see and do. In the following points, I will offer some travel ideas for when you next make that life-changing booking!
Bike Tours
If you are a keen motorcycle rider, you can use this skill to explore different countries via fast-paced travel. You can go it alone or join a group of like-minded individuals (which offers another level of safety).
Choosing motorcycle touring across Europe can provide an incredible travel experience unlike any other mode of transport. You will be able to enjoy the open road in a faraway land on two wheels. Check online and book a self-guided or guided tour to provide a starting point. Alternatively, you can create your own bespoke bike tour, making it unique to your wants and needs.
Interrailing
Train travel offers an excellent way to travel around Europe, connecting you to a wide variety of countries and cities with ease. You can invest in an Interrail Global Pass that allows you to move between an astonishing 33 countries and likely meet others enjoying the same experience.
Three weeks is considered an optimal length of time for the perfect interrailing experience (although your mileage may vary, and you may want to go at a slower, more leisurely pace). Chart your journey to ensure streamlined travel. You can travel during the day to get a glimpse of incredible scenery (especially mountains) or opt for a sleeper service so you can rest in bed at night.
Volunteer Trip
For something different and worthwhile, why not sign up for a volunteer solo travel trip? Charity organisations are always looking for new members to provide relief services to areas that need urgent aid (there is typically no time limit, and you can stay and help out as long as you wish).
Many areas worldwide need assistance in many ways, such as education, healthcare, and food supplies. You could even teach the English language and help with animal rescues or conservation efforts (such as global clean-up or helping marine life). If you want to help people, the environment, or the world, solo volunteer work could be the answer.
All-inclusive Resort
One of the best options would be to visit an all-inclusive resort, allowing you to relax by the pool (in your summer outfit) with a drink in hand (and all of your food and amenities are catered for).
These types of trips are ideal if you just want some downtime—just hit that sunbed with your designer sunglasses and enjoy the rays. Even the entertainment during your trip is already planned. You may even find company with other solo travellers (so be sure to strike up a conversation!) or keep yourself to yourself and enjoy peace and quiet (which can be just what you need before heading back to your busy work life).
Escorted Travels
If you have cash to splash, consider escorted travel. Your trip will be totally planned for you, including transport, accommodation, and all your activities. All you need to do is make sure you are at the designated pick-up point to continue the tour.
These escorted trips are wholly designed for solo travellers, allowing you to go alone but still be part of a group (providing safety with personal space).
Cruising
Finally, why not opt for a trip across the ocean? Cruising can provide the perfect solo travel experience. If you are alone, you can always find peace and quiet in your cabin (even better if you have a balcony so you can watch the captivating sea views).
There will also be plenty to do on board the ship, such as games, visits to the bar, meals, and even shopping in the onboard stores (for some retail therapy). Many cruises plan to stop at different ports, too, allowing passengers to experience different countries and cultures during their boat rides.
Conclusion
If you are planning a solo trip, consider the different points in my latest article, which offer a number of ways to travel depending on your preference. If you want an adventure, it is something to consider; plan accordingly, and it will undoubtedly be an unforgettable trip.
