Wishmoor Pioneer Chronograph Watch Review
My love of all things horological continues with another watch review on my men’s fashion blog – in my latest post, I take a look at the Wishmoor Watches Pioneer Chronograph.
In 2018, Richard Hayes received his very first automatic watch as a gift from his partner, and from that moment, everything changed – in a short time, he studied all of the in’s and out’s of watchmaking with the focus on launching his own brand. Throughout the course of a little over two years, Richard OEM and ODM watch manufacture while also sketching out designs for his first watch in the collection.
Richard said one of the hardest parts was to come up with a suitable name – trying to incorporate the family name in some way, or even family members initials into the mix and then even looking back into his ancestral history! He was still at a loss, however, when trying to pinpoint a name, then as if by chance, he was sitting at home, pondering how to proceed, when some junk mail came through the letterbox and etched above the door was the house name – Wishmoor.
The house holds a sentimental value to Richard, as it is the first home he and his partner bought together (plus it has a lovely ring to it!). The brand is now in full swing, with a selection of different colour ways available for the flagship watch available. Read on further for the full review!
Design & Style
There is no doubt that the Wishmoor Pioneer Watch is a beautiful thing to behold; the round face sitting within a 40mm stainless steel case has an almost retro appearance, yet this only adds to the charm. Thanks to its chronograph functionality, the addition of the two extra dials fills the face admirably yet does not detract from the design (whereas often it creates an overly busy look!).
As mentioned, the watch is available in a variety of colours; I chose the burgundy model with the dark brown leather strap – the complementary effect of the tones is fantastic. The overall style can be easily worn dressed casually with a knit and jeans and when you are going all out with a smart suited ensemble!
Construction & Mechanism
The chronograph watch sports a Ronda 5021 quartz movement, boasting a top-class accuracy backed by Swiss manufacture. In addition, the face features incredibly durable glass, created using a hard domed sapphire crystal to ensure protection against bumps during day to day wear. As mentioned, the watches are available in different colours, so too is the strap – either genuine leather or a stainless steel Milanese bracelet.
The Pioneer timepiece arrives packaged in a minimalist black card box; the top slides effortlessly to reveal the contents inside. The brand logo adorns the lid, using a pale silver colouring, adding to the classy vibe. The watch is supported inside the box within the grey foam, ensuring stability and protection during transit. Overall, faultless in this department.
After spending some time wearing the Wishmoor Pioneer Watch for my men’s style blog review, I am happy to report that it is a quality accessory! Stylish design, quality construction and parts, stored within a neat little package – in summary, top marks from me!
