If you asked me what my favourite colours were, I would more than likely blurt out beige, tan, brown, grey, or grey. However, on closer inspection of my wardrobe, it has come to my attention that I have quite a number of khaki pieces (such as this standout military-style coat). It is a colour that has slowly planted itself firmly into my regular outfit creations.
When I browse fashion stores (whether online or in a brick-and-mortar store), I am always drawn to khaki pieces—their understated dark and earthy appearance is certainly eye-catching. Khaki never gets enough love, and many people will quickly bypass it in favour of more common colours. Nevertheless, khaki is currently gaining a newfound level of popularity. However, it can often easily be styled incorrectly (as it does take some effort to get it right compared to typically popular colours).
As such, one of the best and most effective options is to wear it with complementary tones—brown, ochre, and, of course, greens. You can also go super bold with burgundy (which creates a truly standout effect!). Alternatively, you can never go wrong with achromatic colours (black and white) for something simple yet striking.
In the following sections, I will share several of my favourite outfit ideas for a khaki T-shirt from MIDAundici (check out my review of their collection here).
Khaki T-Shirt Outfit Ideas
Khaki Gilet
For this look, I chose a brown-coloured gilet (for a countryside vibe), navy blue skinny jeans (with a green tint), and beige suede Chelsea boots. This created a perfect everyday style that would suit a day out with your partner, a shopping trip or even an evening with the lads.
Green Harrington Jacket
I rolled with the green style with this ensemble by slipping on an olive Harrington jacket (with a contrast text lining) paired with light grey skinny jeans. I topped this off with a pair of low-profile sneakers in clean white (I opted for sockless sneakers, too—especially in the warmer weather). This outfit is another style that works for everyday occasions and events.
Black Leather Jacket
I chose a sleek black leather jacket for this ensemble—the zip-up biker design works wonderfully against the khaki hue. I combined a pair of washed black slim jeans with white high-top sneakers to display a street-style visual. Throw on some designer shades, and you will be the epitome of cool.
Brown Cardigan
Simply throw on a slightly oversized cardigan in medium brown (worn open or buttoned) with navy skinny jeans and Chelsea boots. The wool texture of the knitwear adds a subtle cosiness effect. These pieces create an ideal outfit for cooler summer evenings or as we head into fall.
Legwear Choices
As seen in my outfit selection, I opted for a few different options in denim – grey, washed black or dark navy (which included a subtle green tint). I picked out skinny/slim styles, but you can easily work with regular or even relaxed cuts (depending on your preference).
As an alternative, you could go smarter with tailored trousers (in similar colours) or even cargo pants (bonus points for a matching olive pair – although aim for a shade darker or lighter than the tee).
Footwear Options
To pair with the khaki tee, I opted for a variety of different footwear styles—bright white high-tops, low-profile sneakers (again in white), or light brown suede Chelsea boots. Of course, the world is your oyster, and you can choose your own vibe!
Perhaps you want a trendy pair of tan loafers (especially for those summer days) and cropped trousers (or even shorts). Instead, consider a smart pair of black boots and tailored trousers for an ensemble that toes the line between smart and casual.
Accessories
I have always loved boosting an otherwise simple look with accessories, and a khaki T-shirt is the perfect blank canvas. Its muted hue works so well with all sorts of different pieces. You can incorporate metals (such as gold, silver, or even coated black) for rings, cuffs, and necklaces. Alternatively, you can opt for more rugged options, such as rope bracelets, or wooden rings and watches.
For my style, I chose silver accessories, including a triangle necklace, cuff, rings (including one with a green stone setting), and an Omega Watch (for a touch of luxury). I completed the overall look with gold-rimmed Ray-Ban sunglasses (a sleek contrast against the khaki fabric).
Summary
For my final thoughts, I highly recommend grabbing yourself a khaki T-shirt. Its eye-catching hue will add some individuality to your outfit choices (especially compared to the common traditional colours available on the market). It can be easily implemented into a large portion of your existing collection, allowing you to create some striking visual effects. So join the khaki clothing revolution and upgrade your wardrobe today.
