Helm Boots The Calistoga Review

Helm Boots The Calistoga Review

Footwear for men comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes and is even conceived for different occasions or events. The Calistoga from Helm Boots has added something new to the fray, as these footwear pieces have been designed using Wine Country as their motivation. Find out more in my latest fashion blog review.

As mentioned above, these new Calistoga (from the same name as the city located in the Californian Napa Valley) boots from Helm (who I have featured in an earlier review of The Finn Sienna Chelsea Boots) began their life by using various trades and pastimes from within the wine trade as the basis of their inception. You could easily see wine tasters and vineyard workers rocking these striking boots, sipping the latest bottle, or crafting the next creation. In my latest review, I will check out this new style in the Merlot colourway (quite apt, considering the wine association).

Design & Shape

These boots feature a striking work boot style aesthetic, with a luxurious Argentinian Neymar leather exterior body and Blake rapid stitching throughout (which adds to that work boot appearance). The interior uses a solid black leather fabric, and the sole uses Helm cushioning (more on that later!). The design is completed with solid black contrasting laces and eyelets in nickel (for that rustic touch).

The boots themselves are available in three different colourways: Sienna, Whiskey, and Merlot (featured in my review).

Comfort & Wearability

As soon as I slipped the Calistoga onto my foot, I knew I was in for a treat! The comfort level is fantastic! The boot’s lining was so comfortable that I was taken aback; I wondered how other brands do not offer this type of luxury inside their shoes. If you touch the inside with your fingers, you can marvel at the spongey fabric and understand why your feet are in love with your new footwear acquisition. The comfort is boosted even further thanks to the extra cushioned Helm rubber soles, the finishing touch to this euphoric experience for your feet.

When it comes to wearability, this type of shoe is not typically my go-to style; however, I was soon converted to the cause! I paired them with a pair of slim/skinny jeans in a medium blue wash (tucked in slightly), and it made for a great look. Paired with an oversized knitted jumper, cardigan, or casual denim coat, you will surely be onto a winner! You could easily wear these boots for pub evenings with the guys, weekends away to a cabin, or even country walks with your partner (although, to be honest, almost anywhere would work – although perhaps not the office!).

Sizing

As with my earlier Helm experience, I selected a US 9.5 / UK 8.5, and as expected, they fitted like a dream! They felt like they were handmade for me; the sizing was that good.

Construction

The quality level is through the roof, absolutely top-notch in all aspects. Helm has hit the ground running again with the Calistoga thanks to perfect construction – no flaws, damage, or unsightly loose threads to be seen. The boots get top marks from me.

Value For Money

Helm boots sit proudly in a higher price bracket, yet the quality on offer sits neck and neck with the big boy designer brands (with the advantage of being comfortable to wear! Unlike others I could mention, especially on the runway). If you are searching for quality, you can easily justify the RRP price.

Overall

If you are looking for a great pair of quality work-style boots and have the cash to spare, you will be more than happy to add the Helm Boots Calistoga to your wardrobe collection. They offer unparalleled quality, excellent style, and great sizing and provide a wide variety of options when creating your next fashionable ensemble. Check them out now, and report back with your findings. I’d love to hear what you think.
